Growth of Paid Internships for Behavioral Health Trainees: Current Trends and Workforce Implications

Master’s-level behavioral health programs require practicum placements, which are often unpaid and may cause financial burden. Through a mixed-methods approach, the study seeks to identify the availability and structure of paid internships in counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy programs to identify how to better support students during their program.
